Figure 1: Schematic diagram of a liquid-liquid "L2" waveguide
A microfluidic channel is fabricated in a silicone substrate via soft lithography. Inside the channel, we sandwich a fluid of higher index of refraction between two streams of liquid with lower index of refraction. Because the flow is laminar, the two liquids flowing side-by-side form an optically smooth interface.
