Figure 1: Laminar flow in microfluidic channels
Laminar flow of seven flowing streams of liquid (water) in a network of microfluidic channels. Arrows describe the direction of flow. Color is the result of dyes added to the reservior of water supplying each of the "feeding" microfluidic channels. Note that there is no turbulent mixing after the feeding streams combine; only diffusive mixing is observed (slight blurring at the interfaces between the streams). Image courtesy of Felice Frankel.
