Movie 7: Cell motility assay
In the movie, polyethylene-glycol terminated SAMs are pattered around islands protein-terminated SAMs; cells are cultured on the islands. Applying the voltage across the surface releases the polyethylene-glycol SAMs from the surface and allows the cells to spread out from confinement. The technique can be used to study cell motility as a function of another stimulus (e.g. addition of a drug).
